Rivian disclosed plans for a new electric vehicle manufacturing facility in Atlanta late last year.Due to a structural flaw that affects the steering wheels of the affected vehicles, Rivian is recalling 13,000 vehicles, or almost its entire fleet.The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration warns that improperly tightening a fastener holding the front upper control arm and steering knuckle together could result in the fastener separating, losing its grip and increasing the risk of a crash.
Certain 2022 R1T, R1S, and EDV vehicles are subject to the recall.
Dealers are anticipated to fix affected vehicles at no cost to owners, and owners will be notified in late November.Rivian disclosed plans for its second factory for producing electric vehicles late last year in Atlanta.
