The R1T electric pickup truck is racking up the awards, and it paints a clear picture of the automotive future.
Edmunds selected the 2022 Rivian R1T as the initial winner of its first inaugural Edmunds Top Rated Editors’ Choice award. The edition says its editors. R1T thanks to its ability on and off the pavement, as well as its state-of-the-art tech components and significant horsepower.
However, Edmunds say that the Rivian electric pickup truck is balanced to make a major effect in the electric vehicle sector, alongside the pickup truck class in general.
Furthermore, it comes as no wonder as the Rivian R1T is taking home these awards. There’s nothing quite like it on the market today, and it will see no real rivalry in the EV space for a time.
Also a handful of people have proposed that the R1T shouldn’t be qualified for such awards since Rivian hasn’t delivered many yet. Still, that’s arguably an outrageous judgment since these awards have nothing to do with sales. Whether or not an automaker has had sufficient time to ramp up production and deliver a remarkable number of vehicles has nothing to do with whether the vehicle itself is a winner by its own merits.
Only time will tell how startup electric automakers, such as Rivian and Lucid will thrive over the long term. Nevertheless, Rivian deserves a lot of credit for being the first automaker to bring an electric truck to market on our coasts.
Not to speak of the fact that it’s very compelling in almost every way. Edmunds writer.
Edmunds nominated many winners in varied categories, still, the R1T was the editors’ top nominee overall.
