MotorTrend on Monday labelled the all-electric Rivian R1T the publication’s 2022 truck of the year, beating out other pickups from Ford Motor, General Motors and Hyundai Motor.
The prestigious title and supporting “Golden Caliper” award are highly explored by automakers globally every year. They are used to assisting vehicles in publicity and are regarded as third-party confirmation of a new vehicle.
MotorTrend called the R1T, which is the first mass-produced electric truck in the U.S., “the Post remarkable pickup truck we’ve ever driven,” in a release announcing the award.
Rivian re-examined what a modern pickup could be and the outcome is the most incredible truck MotorTrend has ever ridden, making it worthy o0f the ‘Golden Calipers’ in recent history.
MotorTrend said the Rivian R1T surpassed each of its six key criteria in winning the award which includes, safety, efficiency, quality, advancement in design, engineering excellence, and performance of intended purpose. Other finalists for MotorTrend’s truck of the year were the Ford Maverick, GMC Hummer EV and Hyundai Santa Cruz.
MotorTrend’s truck of the year attends the publication naming the Lucid Air as truck of the year and the Genesis GV70 as its SUV of the year.
